Updated 30 October 2026. Applies to the Lidub browser extension and lidub.com. Operator: Lidub (Techgon). If the two versions differ, the Vietnamese version prevails.
Summary
- Lidub only runs on youtube.com and only sends data to lidub.com.
- Lidub sends the subtitle text and video ID of videos you choose to dub, to translate and voice them.
- Tab audio is sent only when you turn on Listen mode yourself, and is not stored after processing.
- When you sign in with Google, Lidub stores your name, email and Google account ID.
- Lidub does not sell data, does not use it for advertising, and does not read your browsing history or YouTube account.
- You can view your data, sign out everywhere and delete your account right away on the Account page.
Data Lidub receives
| Data | When | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, Google account ID | When you sign in with Google on lidub.com | Sign-in, account and quota management |
| Sign-in tokens (session cookie, extension token) | When you sign in and when the extension connects | Keep you signed in; the server stores only hashes |
| Subtitle text, timings and YouTube video ID | When you turn on dubbing for a video | Translate into Vietnamese, generate speech, reuse existing translations for that video |
| Audio of the video tab | Only when you turn on Listen mode (Chrome asks for tab capture permission and the extension asks for your consent) | Speech recognition, then translation and speech; not stored after processing |
| Video ID, playback position, dubbed sentence count and daily cost | Each time the extension translates or speaks | Quota, prioritising translation around where you are watching, the “7-day activity” view |
| Feedback or request text, extension version, page host name | When you send it | Answer requests, fix bugs, improve translations and voices |
| IP address, time, browser information | Every request to lidub.com | Security, abuse prevention, rate limiting |
Data Lidub does not collect
Lidub does not read your browsing history, pages other than youtube.com, your YouTube account or watch history, your Google password, contacts, location or microphone. The Lidub server never accesses YouTube itself: subtitles are read by the extension inside your browser. Lidub has no button to download the original video or audio.
How data is used
Only to provide translation and dubbing, keep accounts secure and keep costs within quota. Lidub does not sell or rent data, does not use it for advertising, profiling or credit decisions, and does not let anyone else read it except the service providers below.
Lidub's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Service providers
These providers receive only the data needed for their step and do not receive your name or email (except Google when you sign in). They handle it under their own API data policies (for example OpenAI, Gemini API) and may retain it briefly for abuse monitoring. Data may be processed outside Vietnam.
| Provider | Role | Data |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | Subtitle translation; speech recognition in Listen mode (depending on configuration) | Subtitle text; tab audio when Listen is on |
| Sign-in; Gemini translation and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech voices when enabled | Sign-in information; subtitle / translated text when enabled | |
| Soniox | Speech recognition in Listen mode (when enabled) | Tab audio when Listen is on |
| Vultr | Servers hosting lidub.com and its database | All data in the table above |
| Cloudflare | Content delivery and attack protection for lidub.com | IP address, requests passing through its network |
The default voices run on Lidub's own server.
Stored on your device
- The extension stores settings (voice, speed…), its connection token and an audio cache in its own extension storage (
storage, unlimitedStoragepermissions). Removing the extension deletes it all. - lidub.com sets one sign-in cookie,
lidub_session(readable only by the server), and remembers the interface language you choose (Tiếng Việt / English) in browser storage (localStorage, keylidub.lang) — it is never sent to the server. Lidub uses no advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
Retention
- Account, usage figures, playback position, feedback and requests: until the account is deleted.
- Sign-in session: 30 days, or until you sign out. Extension token: about 1 hour, renewed while you stay signed in.
- Listen-mode audio: held in memory only while that segment is processed, never written to disk. Listen-mode transcripts and translations stay in memory for at most 10 minutes so a dropped connection can resume, and are not written to the database.
- Translations and speech for each video are kept in a shared cache so later viewers can reuse them. Translated lines are not linked to any account or IP address; Lidub only records which account first requested a video, to limit new videos per day.
- Technical logs (web server access logs, with IP addresses) are used only for operations and security; they do not contain subtitle text or keys.
Your rights, account deletion
- View your information and 7-day activity on the Account page.
- Sign out of every browser and disconnect every extension on the Account page.
- Delete your account now: press Delete account on the Account page (two-step confirmation). Lidub deletes your sessions, extension tokens, usage history, playback positions, feedback and metrics; anonymizes your name, email and Google link (signing in again creates a new account, not linked to old data); and keeps only the anonymized cost ledger for reconciliation.
- Get a copy of your data (or ask us to delete it if the button does not work for you): use the data request / account deletion form. Lidub replies to your Google account email and completes the request within 30 days.
- Remove the extension to delete everything stored on your device.
Security
All connections use HTTPS. Service keys are encrypted on the server, sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes, and the extension token is sent in a header, never in a URL. The extension does not load remote code.
Children
Lidub is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
When this policy changes, Lidub updates the date above. Material changes (for example, sending a new kind of data) are announced in the extension and require your consent before they apply.
